Why I carry Dip
I’m Valerie, the owner of Ekologicall, and I use Dip myself. One 4 oz bar lasts me about 6 months, washing 3 times a week. It leaves no residue, and my hair feels soft and light. The biggest surprise? My hair feels less greasy, so I’ve been able to space out my washes. Everyone’s hair is different, but this is the bar I recommend to family and friends, whether it’s their very first shampoo bar or they’ve been let down by one before.
Is it worth $24? In my own use, one bar lasts about 6 months. That’s around $4 a month for salon-quality shampoo, with no plastic bottles to throw away.
Why this shampoo bar is different
Many "shampoo bars" are actually bar soap. Soap is alkaline, and in hard water it can leave that heavy, waxy feeling people complain about. Dip uses the same kind of gentle cleansers found in good liquid shampoos, just pressed into a bar.
- Not soap: gentle coconut-derived cleansers instead of saponified oils
- pH-balanced for daily use, where soap is alkaline
- Rich, creamy, salon-quality lather, without the waxy buildup soap can leave in hard water
- Color-safe
The less you press, the more it lathers
This is the one trick that makes Dip work. Don't scrub. A light graze across wet hair is all it takes, then your fingertips do the rest.
- Before the very first use, lather the bar in your hands to prime it. (Only needed once.)
- Wet your hair and the bar.
- Gently graze the bar across your scalp, no pressure needed. Work up a lather with your fingers.
- Rinse and follow with the Dip Conditioner Bar.
- Store it dry between uses. A draining soap dish keeps it firm and helps it last much longer.

Frequently asked questions
I’ve never used a shampoo bar. Is it hard to switch?
Not at all. Wet your hair and the bar, glide it lightly over your scalp, lather with your fingers and rinse, just like your usual shampoo. The only trick: don’t press hard, a light touch makes more lather. Not sure about the scent? Start with the 0.75 oz mini.
How long does a Dip Shampoo bar last?
It depends on hair length and how often you wash. On average the regular size lasts 2 to 5 months for most people. Storing it dry on a draining dish definitely makes it last longer.
For reference, my own 4 oz bar lasts me about 6 months, washing 3 times a week.
Will it make my hair waxy?
Waxy buildup usually comes from soap-based bars, especially in hard water. Dip isn’t soap. It uses mild, pH-balanced cleansers like the ones in liquid shampoo. In my own use, it leaves no residue at all.
Is it safe for color-treated hair?
Yes, Dip shampoo bar is color-safe.
How do I use the Dip shampoo bar?
Wet hair. Glide the wet bar directly on hair with very little pressure. Massage into a full lather. Rinse clean. Store the bar somewhere dry between uses to extend its life.
